RENÉ BOBADILLA
CITY MANAGER FOR THE CITY OF EL MONTE
Mr. René Bobadilla was appointed City Manager by the El Monte City Council on January 19, 2010. René served as Interim City Manager for approximately 3 months prior to his appointment at the City Council meeting of January 19, 2010. Mr. Bobadilla began his meteoric rise in the City of El Monte after being hired as the City’s Public Works Maintenance Superintendent in January 2008. René was then promoted to Deputy City Manager for Community Development in April 2009 then as the Interim City Manager and finally as City Manager.

As City Manager, Mr. Bobadilla is responsible for the operation of all City departments including financial and administrative services, police, community development, community services, public works and redevelopment.

Prior to being employed by the City of El Monte, Mr. Bobadilla worked for the County of Los Angeles as a Civil Engineer for 10 years. He also worked in the capacity of a Staff Engineer for the San Gabriel County Water District as well as a private engineering firm (Krieger & Stewart, City of Riverside).

René was born and raised in the City of El Monte, and attended local elementary schools (Payne and Kranz Schools) ultimately graduating from El Monte High School.

Mr. Bobadilla received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal Poly Pomona and received his professional engineering license in 2000.

Mr. Bobadilla has been married to his wife, Susan, who is Assistant Principal for El Monte High School, for 13 years and have two beautiful daughters, Vanessa and Jacqueline.
