Blood Pressure Clinic

Free blood pressure screenings are available on the third Wednesday of each month, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. For participants 50 years of age and older. Blood pressure screenings are done by a trained volunteer who maintain records, allowing for the creation of a personalized history of each participant. If blood pressure is unusually high or low, the volunteer will screen for “normal” blood pressure of individual and make appropriate referrals for follow-up care.



Care Management Services

Services are available for adults 60 years and older who need assistance to remain safely in their homes. The Care Manager becomes a personal advocate who assists in defining needs and arranging solutions for specific problems in clients’ lives. A variety of services are available at low or no cost to qualifying individuals at risk of  placement in assisted living and other types of nursing homes.  Care management also provides referrals to agencies that can provide assistance in such areas as food, transportation, in home help, legal and medical issues and much more. Advocacy is provided with public agencies, doctors, HMO’s and private companies as needed.  Assistance is also available to caregivers who need help caring for a family member, 60 years of age and older.



County Tax Assessor

A representative of the Los Angeles County Assessment Office of Appeals assists the community with property tax appeals on a quarterly basis. Please call the office at: (626) 580-2210 for upcoming dates.



Legal Services

Bet Tzedek Legal Services visits the Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center periodically to provide free legal advice to individuals 60 years of age and older. Bet Tzedek’s services cover most legal areas except divorce, criminal law, immigration, living trusts, vehicle accidents, child custody, child support, medical malpractice, or personal injury. Those wishing legal advice must live in Los Angeles County and preference will be given to those with low income.  Please call the office at: (626) 580-2210 for more information and appointments.



Information & Referrals

The purpose of the Information & Referrals program is to assist El Monte residents age 62 and older with an immediate need for vital information and referrals.  Case Aides can complete paperwork for various social service programs including but not limited to housing, transportation, public benefits and low cost utilities.  This service is paid for by Community Development Block Grant funds.
