Residents of the City of El Monte can potentially receive water service from one of 9 providers, including the Water Department of the City of El Monte. In order to establish new service, you will need to take the following 3 steps:

How do I pay my water bill?
 
Customers may mail their water bills in the self-addressed envelope provided with their bill or may bring in person to City Hall.
There is a night drop located in the breezeway between the Police Department and City Hall East. Box marked "AFTER HOURS PAYMENTS".
All additional fees, deposits, and required paperwork must be processed in person at City Hall East.
There is no other authorized paying station for the City of El Monte Water Department.
Who do I contact regarding service requests?
 
Meter leaks, missing meter lids, New service line connections or improvements, backflow protection requirements or annual re-certification are handled by our Public Works Department:

One standby Water Systems Operator is on duty 24-hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies and to ensure that the customers are assured a safe and constant drinking water supply. After business hours please contact dispatch 626-580-2100.

How often will I receive a water bill?
  The City of El Monte Water Department sends out bills on a bi-monthly basis, every January, March, May, July, September, and November.
How much are water rates?
  Your water bill is comprised of two components:
 
1 Meter Service Charge – Is a fixed bimonthly fee. The Meter Service Charge is based on the size of your water meter and covers the production of water, maintenance of facilities (reservoir, production wells, pipelines), electrical costs for pumping water, and other fixed operating costs.

2 Water Consumption Charge – covers the actual cost of water consumed. There is a two-tier consumption charge.
– $0.15 per for the 0- 75 units consumed

Do you offer a low-income or senior citizen discount?
  No, we do not.
How do I turn off my water to make a repair?
  No person other than an employee of the City of El Monte is authorized to turn off your water service. Please call our Water Desk to set up an appointment.
