We are committed to providing quality transportation services as we continue to respond to the changing needs of the community and passengers. The City's Transportation Division provides transportation for the Jack Crippen Senior Center's Nutrition Program, Youth Sports, special city events, the El Monte's Commuter Shuttle Program, and adult Trips and Tours.

Through the Transportation Division the city offers several programs for El Monte Residents: Dial-A-Ride for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities; and subsidized MTA, EZPass and Foothill monthly bus passes.

El Monte Transit operates ultra-low floor transit buses. These clean air buses run on Compressed Natural Gas and provide transportation to over 50,000 passengers a month. Tokens can be purchased at the Transit Center located at 3650 Center Avenue.

The “El Monte Commuter Shuttles”:
El Monte Commuter Shuttle operates Monday through Friday during peak commute periods providing connections between the El Monte Metrolink Station and the Flair Park Business District, the Civic Center and the El Monte Bus Station.  The same shuttles will return riders to the El Monte Metrolink Station in the afternoon.

The “El Monte Transit”:

Previously known “as the El Monte Trolley Company” operates ultra-low floor transit buses on five fixed-routes that provide transportation for residents to most major shopping areas, recreation facilities and most schools within the city.

Fare is only .50 cents per ride. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:40 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All buses leave from the Trolley Station located at 3650 Center Avenue approximately every 40 minutes. For information on routes, please call 943-1200.

There will be route changes to several of the routes beginning January 1, 2009.

The YELLOW ROUTE will delete westbound Ramona to northbound Santa Anita and northbound Santa Anita to eastbound Valley Blvd. This will cut the travel time by 10-15 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Santa Anita and Valley Blvd have heavy traffic delays at peak commute times.

Changes to the ORANGE ROUTE will include eliminating the short route of Ferris from Durfee to Gillman, south to Exline and then back onto Durfee. And also eliminate service to the eastbound turn down Denholm to southbound Parkway. Instead continue south on Durfee to Magnolia turn south to Parkway and continue the route as normal.

The BLUE ROUTE was detoured that was temporarily detoured when Ramona Blvd closed for the ACE project and the new underpass on Ramona, will no longer serve the westbound Bryant Road or southbound Santa Anita.
